Ruptured Album Release // THE ART OF BOO // Kaput

Releasing 07 July 2023 on Ruptured:

“Kaput” is the second music album by Lebanese cartoonist and musician Bernard Hage, also known as “The Art of Boo”. The work consists of a series of piano based tunes that chronicle the artist’s distress during the tumultuous crisis in Lebanon, from the early protests in October 2019 until his immigration to Berlin in June 2021.

Recorded and produced amid the chaos of political unrest, pandemic lockdowns, financial collapse, and the devastating Beirut port explosion, the sounds of the city and the artist’s personal struggles were channeled into the creation of this album.

Composed and performed by Bernard Hage and Anthony Sahyoun in Beirut, between November 2020 and April 2021.
With Akram Hajj on drums.
Sound design by Cedric Kayem. Mastered by Ziad Moukarzel.

Available as a digital album and art print with download code.

This mix was commissioned by Movement Athens for its radio festival “Exploring Mediterranean Futures” [Feb. 15-19, 2022], a 5-day radio festival focused on the sounds of the Mediterranean, searching for geographical and chronological connections through its culture, ideas and people.

Ziad Nawfal Guest Mix for Radio Ma3azef – Anthony Sahyoun Takeover // 10 November 2021

Ziad Nawfal’s November 2021 mix for Radio Ma3azef featured a guest takeover from Lebanese musician and producer ANTHONY SAHYOUN, on the occasion of the release of his solo album Proof by Infinite Descent:

“This mix acts as a sort of prologue to my album Proof by Infinite Descent’s release on the 19th of November. It’s basically a mash-up of the work I was involved in while the record was materializing. It has some tracks from the record, some live stuff some weird morphs, as well as some of the collaborative work that’s a big part of my life, specifically the collaborations I was working on during while producing Proof: Kinematik Ensemble – with Rudy Ghafari, Akram Hajj, Jad Atoui, Ziad Moukarzel and Teddy Tawil; NP – with Jad Atoui, May Berde – with Teddy Tawil; and a track by The Art of Boo, which I produced.
I firmly believe that collaborative work is the blueprint for my individual work, it only makes sense to have them here – Anthony”
